The first Love the Lord Cup Basketball Tournament, brought together by thirteen teams from Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan Zhongli District and Hsinchu City, has been through 28 games and a period of three months, and at last, the semi-finals will be held on Saturday, July 5. R-MEN, the theme of the finals, was based on the character “Professor X” from the science-fiction movie X-Men. The hosts dressed up as Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine. The unknown “X” factor was changed into an “R,” representing “Real,” “Righteous” and “Rapture.” With this creative idea, combined with public frenzy over basketball, CGM hopes to send out CGM’s principle, which is the spirit of love and peace. Aside from the exciting finals, CGM Taiwan also incorporated its signature opening and closing ceremony with professional performances which include professional dance numbers, a live band, and basketball dances. Tailor-made for this event, from the lyrics and song composition, instrumental and singing performances, to the dance choreography, all original performances were produced entirely by CGM members. The event was also interspersed with fun and interesting basketball-related games that encouraged audience interaction.
