TOUR DE LORD (Bike Team) Responds to "World Bicycle Day"

This year's Dragon Boat Festival coincides with World Cycling Day. In order to promote a low-carbon and green life, Christian Gospel Mission (CGM), also know as Providence Church, joined with TOUR DE LORD (Bike Team) on a lightweight cycling trip, which recently called for cycling enthusiasts from all over Taiwan to take action together to bring changes to our lives, and take care of the earth a little more. This event was jointly held in five regions: Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Hualien. The number of people exceeded 100 for the first time, and the total riding kilometers reached 5,583 kilometers. Each route has different characteristics of various places, and the route design is rich and easy to get started.


TOUR DE LORD (Bike Team) is a non-profit organization. It has been established for nearly ten years. TOUR DE LORD from each regions fully demonstrate the characteristics of different regions. The Taipei section follows the riverside drive from Bitan (碧潭) to Dadaocheng (大稻埕), and there is no uphill section. Hsinchu team calls on the public to respond, chooses Ubike (rental bike), making cycling activities easy and unburdened. The Taichung route passes through historic buildings, displaying the history as you ride by. Tainan team takes Zuozhen Petrochemical Park as the end point of the activity, and Hualien team circles the city and goes to Qixingtan to overlook the Pacific coast.


People who participated the TOUR DE LORD (Bike Team) bike trip express the sport have unlock their sports potential. At first, they thought it would be difficult, but by taking action together, they reached their destination without noticing how much time went by. “It was really a sense of achievement!” one of the participant replied. In addition, adhering to environmentally friendly, low-carbon and light travel, this event encourages participants to bring their own water bottles to replenish water, reduce the purchase of disposable plastic bottles, and be friendly to the environment and protect the earth.


As the issue of global warming continues to heat up, energy saving and carbon reduction have become the most popular terms nowadays, and the trend of cycling is becoming more and more popular. "World Bicycle Day" was announced by the United Nations in 2018, followed by June 3rd of every year, the purpose is to promote the bicycle's "uniqueness, long service life, and multi-functionality" as a simple, cheap and environmentally friendly mode of transportation. If you want to achieve environmental sustainability, people may wish to utilize more public transportation or ride bicycles to reduce the carbon emissions generated by each movement, and protect the lifespan of our planet together.
